Don Schumacker Racing Suzuki Driver, Chip Ellis, 37, has pursued his passion for two wheels since he was just a young boy. At the age of 10, he captured his first national event in bicycle racing and by his early teens he was already focused on motorcycles. Ellis’ career has been full of exciting racing accomplishments and championships on local and national tracks. In 1998, Ellis joined the AMA Prostar Series and later signed on with Kawasaki Motor Corp. in 1999 where he successfully raced and was co-builder and tuner for many winning Kawasaki's. Ellis is on a roll. For the last four consecutive years, Ellis has achieved a consistent record of national track championships and race records. In this short time, he has won AMA/Prostar championships in the 600 Supersport, Funny Bike and Formula Superbike divisions. He also set a Funnybike MPH record of 210.18 in 2001. In 2004, he became the first rookie in Pro Stock Motorcycle history to win a No. 1 qualification spot at a national event and became only the second Pro Stock rider on record to drive a V-twin bike to a national win. Ellis is a three-time graduate of programs offered at the Frank Hawley Drag Racing School. Through the years, he has worked with leading industry organizations, including Star Racing and Adam’s Performance and now Schumacher Racing.

  Steve Tartaglia-Crew Chief

Steve Tartaglia, who hails from West Orange, N.J., has more than 30 years of experience in motorcycle mechanics and machining, including racing a competitive Pro Stock Motorcycle for over eight years.

Prior to arriving at Schumacher Racing in 2003, Tartaglia had previous employment stops at Performance Cycles, Orient Express, Star Racing, Ward Performance, Cope Racing and Vance & Hines Racing.

At Vance & Hines Racing, he built high-performance street and race engines, while overseeing the research and development for the organization’s Pro Stock Motorcycle engines.

In 2004, as the assistant crew chief for the U.S. Army Pro Stock Motorcycle Team, he helped lead drivers Angelle Sampey and Antron Brown to a total of six wins and five poles.                            

 Tom Patsis-Crew

Responsibilities: 
I work on both Angelle and Antron’s bikes, assisting with cleaning of clutches, modifying and balancing tires, and video taping of team runs at starting line.

How did you become involved in drag racing? 
Always love racing and went to school for it. 

How many years have you been involved in drag racing?
First year professionally, but been involved in drag racing for more than 4 years.

Where did you work/what did you do prior to working for DSR? 
Worked at Brownstore Graphics while at college.

What is your goal with the team, and what is your greatest accomplishment with the team thus far? 
Winning 2005 Championship is goal in first season with team.  Greatest accomplishment is beating Harley’s in semi’s at St. Louis event this season. 

Hobbies:
Working on cars, welding, drawing, joking, biking, carting, photography and not trying to piss off my girlfriend.
