Memorial Day at Raccoon Lake in Indiana

A nice break from the busy life of racing.  We spent the weekend at the lake with Norm (Fab shop man at DSR)and Linda.  Oh, I forgot Barney, the puppy.  Chip finally got his Allison boat back in the water and it did not BLOW UP this weekend.  (My wallet loved that.)  It is still pretty chilly up here---40's/50's at night and 60's/70's during the day.  [very different than southern GA]
 

Kenzie's 1st fishing trip in Indiana.  She went in the backyard and dug up all the worms she needed.  Chip took her fishing at Raccoon Lake.  She doesn't seem to mind checkin the worms out and putting them on her fishing line.  The poor girl stayed out there all day and never caught a fish.




DSR PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE RIDER ELLIS HELPS TOP FUEL TEAMMATES IN BRISTOL
 
BRISTOL, Tenn. (May 17, 2008) - In a vivid display of the camaraderie that exists between Don Schumacher Racing teammates, Schumacher Electric Suzuki Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Chip Ellis is on hand this weekend at Bristol Dragway to help out the FRAM Top Fuel crew.

"Our team works next to the FRAM team at the DSR shop in Indianapolis and we've become good friends," said Ellis, who is here with his wife Kathy and daughter McKenzie on his weekend off from NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle competition. "I was in Knoxville, Tenn., picking up my boat and I decided to come to the track and give the guys a hand. I've just been changing tires and cleaning out oil pans and that kind of stuff. It's a lot of fun and I'm learning a lot."
 
Ellis also served as color commentator during today's final qualifying session along with NHRA track announcer Bob Frey.

Chip is driving his ALLISON XB2002 Bass boat with a 2.5 Marnier.  It ran 106 mph that day. 



Mark Peiser (Steve Johnson's Crew Chief) driving his BULLET 21XRD bass boat with a 250xs Mercury.  He was running 82 mph that day.

Mark found a few quiet fishing holes as Chip practiced making HOLE SHOTS to scare the fish towards Mark.
